Job Summary

Under the direction of a project leader and other graphic designer, responsible for creating and revising detail drawings using 3-Dimensional modeling tools. Responsible for the integrity of the computer-graphic product and process model databases. These models must be suitable for internal concurrent manufacture, CMM data extraction and vendor translation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Works simultaneously with development, manufacturing, tool and process engineers to create complex 3-D surfaced or solid models of orthopaedic implants, provisionals and instrumentation.
• Works simultaneously with process engineering and CNC programming to develop casting, forging and processing models and drawings.
• Evaluates designs using anatomic data.
• Manages a portion of the graphics maintenance workload.
• Complies with existing procedures and standards to create product models and drawings that comply with Quality Systems Regulations.

 Areas of Competence

• Familiar with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and capable of applying GD&T callouts to drawings per ASME Y 14.5.
• Innovative in developing new designs. Develops patentable designs.
• Assists with the development of processes and techniques that shorten development cycle times.
• Adapts quickly to new technologies.
• Manages special assignments and maintenance responsibilities effectively. Anticipates and minimizes conflicting deadlines.
• experience creating solid models using Unigraphics software.
• Capable of modifying existing Unigraphics models and drawings to ZCN requirements.

Education/ Experience Requirements

• A two-year technical degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
